Overview
The Business Psychology (International Route) Top-up degree is a one academic year (September to June), full time campus-based programme designed for international students with a Level 5 equivalent (e.g. HND or associate degree) in either Business or Psychology. It explores the practical interplay between the two disciplines.
The course is for you if you wish to continue your studies at final year (Level 6) honours level in the UK whilst also developing academic and vocational English-medium skills.
The course helps you adjust to studying in the UK as you earn a full honours degree as well as developing the skills and knowledge needed to continue to further postgraduate study in English or English-medium work.
This degree prepares you for further study at master’s level in the UK.
On this programme you will:
- Develop the academic and communication skills you need to perform at postgraduate level in English or in a Business or Psychology role which needs English .
- Gain knowledge of and engage in the scientific study of human experience and behaviour and develop an in-depth understanding of key psychological principles and theories as applied to business.

What you will study
You will study six modules over two semesters. Your study will give you the 120 credits necessary to achieve a full UK degree (BSc (Hons) Business Psychology (International Route)). The credits are made up as follows.

Modules
Academic English 1
This module develops your listening, speaking, reading and writing skills in academic contexts.
For example, you learn how to structure and write essays using appropriate academic language, how to read critically and develop your speaking skills by taking part in group discussions.
Academic English 2
In this module, the focus in on developing your skills to write at length in academic settings in English and on selecting and critically evaluating appropriate texts in English to support your studies.
English for International Business Communication
This is a practical module which prepares you to use English vocationally in a world where English is the main medium of international communication.
For example, you explore and learn to produce emails, job interview ‘pitches’, business leaflets and marketing presentations as well as take part in a range of business meetings.
Work and Organisational Psychology
You will consider a range of relationships between working conditions, jobs and organisational processes, psychological outcomes, and their impact on job and organisational performance. Psychological reactions including job satisfaction, job stress, motivation, work engagement, and organisational commitment are investigated, and organisational functions such as job design, health and safety at work, and organisational team-working, are considered.
Strategic and International HRM
The module emphasises how Strategic Human Resource Management (SHRM) intertwines with business strategy, organizational culture, and design, showcasing how it’s implemented using various management tools and techniques.
It upholds the significance of HRM by highlighting current themes, developments, and issues, both nationally and internationally. Moreover, it underscores the practical application and outcomes of these developments for organisations.

Research Project
This 45-credit module develops your skills as an independent researcher.
You learn to plan, carry out and evaluate your own small-scale research project in a topic related to Business & Management. Through a series of practical tasks (often working with other students) you learn to identify an area for research, select reading materials, collect and analyse data and present your findings verbally and as a written research report.

How you will learn
The programme is delivered in small classes (no more than 20 students for language-based classes) through workshop-based, interactive and developmental activities
You are assessed through a range of assignments including coursework, exams, presentations. groupwork and portfolios.
In addition to International English classes which form part of your programme you also receive:
- Individual tutorial support (3 hours per semester), to help you plan, carry out and check your coursework .
- A special international orientation programme to welcome you to the University.
- Dedicated international advisers to help you with issues such as visas, opening a bank account and settling into life in the UK.
- Social events to help you integrate into the University community and University life.

This course helps you develop the academic and communication skills you need to succeed at postgraduate level. You will develop your business and psychology knowledge, cultural awareness, language ability and your ability to conduct independent research projects.
This BSc (Hons) Business Psychology (International Route) degree can prepare you to apply for business or psychology postgraduate programmes at a UK university. If you achieve a 2nd class honours degree or higher (50%+) we guarantee you entry to our postgraduate programmes in business or psychology. If you achieve a 2:1 or above, you will be eligible for Chichester postgraduate programme bursaries.

Entry Requirements
The programme is open only to those for whom English is not a first/main working language.
Applicants must satisfy both conditions A and B:
A: Level 5 qualification in business and/or psychology.
B: IELTS 6.0 minimum (or recognised equivalent) with no element lower than 5.5.
Applicants whose language does not yet meet requirement B are eligible for entry via successful completion of the University’s Pre-sessional programmes.
